REALITY CHECK 2.0 • SFC KING

YOUR FUTURE.
YOUR NUMBERS.
YOUR PLAN.

This is not just a college-cost calculator anymore. Build the school plan, connect it to a real career, see the debt, build the monthly life, then compare what changes when a Missouri Army National Guard path is added.

No commitment. No contact info required to use the tools. Planning estimates only.

THE JOURNEY

One plan. Six reality checks.

Work left to right. Each step carries the same goal forward so you are comparing the same future—not random benefit numbers.

STEPS 1–3 • BUILD THE PLAN

COLLEGE → CAREER → DEBT

Build the plan first.

Use this tool when college is part of your plan. Pick schools, majors, transfer paths, and funding to see what the numbers could actually look like.

Pick a school and choose a major from the dropdown. The 2026–27 tuition estimate fills itself in, and schools with major-based pricing update again when the major changes. School choices also show the current tuition estimate right in the list.

Your numbers stay on your device. This calculator runs in your browser and does not send your financial entries anywhere.

1. Your school

Pick a school — its tuition estimate fills in automatically. The price is also shown in the school list.
Preview-safe school pickerThis file viewer is blocking the calculator script. Pick a school here and the tuition below will still change.

Full calculator note: The downloadable/hosted website uses the same school selection to update tuition, books, years, living estimates, major-based pricing, and the final reality check automatically.

2026–27 AUTO-FILLED $10,560/year Tuition and required-fee estimate
SEMO 2026–27: $10,560 tuition/general fees for 30 hours; $396 estimated books. Official source ↗
Pick a school first. This list then shows only programs curated for that college — no typing required.
Program pricing: Standard school rate. Choose a major and this tool will adjust tuition automatically where the school publishes different rates by program.
Your plan, your choice. The school fills in cost estimates, but it does not lock your timeline or degree goal. Choose what you actually plan to do.
Pick the number of years you personally expect to attend.
This stays under your control even after you change schools.

You can still edit anything. Some majors, labs, nursing/health programs, online courses, and technical programs charge extra.

OPTIONAL TRANSFER PLAN

Start here, transfer later

Do part of your degree at one school, then transfer and finish somewhere else. We’ll price both parts.

Phase 1Automatically uses your plan above.
✓
Your first-school plan carries over automatically.

College, major/program, years in school, tuition, books, and living plan all come from the choices you already made above.

Your selections above become Phase 1.
Phase 2Choose where you’ll transfer to finish.
Transfer plan: Phase 1 uses everything you entered above. Choose only the transfer school, final major, years there, and living plan.
Transfer check: This is a planning estimate, not a guarantee that every credit transfers. Confirm the exact pathway with both schools before enrolling.

2. Money you expect to have

Enter totals for your whole college plan — not per-year amounts.

Missouri A+ Scholarship

Tell us whether you expect to qualify. You never enter an A+ dollar amount — the Reality Check estimates it automatically from the school, length of the eligible portion of the plan, and current 2026–27 A+ rules.

A+ is not counted until you select Yes.
A+ is a last-dollar program for eligible tuition and general fees at participating two-year/community/technical schools. Federal non-loan aid such as Pell is applied first, so this calculator uses a conservative estimate when other grants are entered. Do not include A+ again in the scholarships field below.
$
Do not include A+ here. The calculator handles A+ separately.

3. What do you expect to earn?

Starting salary updates automatically from the major or career you picked above. You can still edit it if you have a better local estimate.

Salary estimate updates from your selected major/career.

HOW WILL YOU COVER THE GAP?

Tap this if you want the reality check to include an estimated student-loan payment.

STEPS 4–6 • LIFE → GUARD → RESULTS

Build the life that comes after the diploma.

Your school price is only part of the decision. This uses the school, career, salary and borrowing from the Reality Check above, then adds the bills that show up every month after graduation.

1. Run the Reality Check above2. Pick a lifestyle3. Compare the monthly result

Your monthly life

Start with a preset, then change anything. These are planning estimates, not a promise of what your exact bills or taxes will be.

Parent view: what this does and does not assume
This tool compares the student's own school/career inputs with a basic monthly budget. It does not decide whether the Guard is right for someone and it does not guarantee education benefits.
  • School costs, transfer acceptance and aid must be verified with the school.
  • Guard benefits depend on eligibility, contract terms, funding and current policy.
  • Taxes, insurance, housing and other living costs vary by person.
Run your regular Reality Check first.
Then this section will use those numbers to show what the plan could feel like month to month.
